Koala Envy

Had a fairly mundane weekend after a fairly mundane week.  Only excitement was a fiasco with the carbon monoxide alarm at 4 am Saturday morning, when I was home alone.  Scary as anything when it was happening, and awkward to have the firemen, complete with firetruck, come in the middle of the night when you're in your pajamas, but looking back the whole ordeal is mildly entertaining, actually.

Other than that, the high point was getting about a third of the Harbinger layout done.  It looks pretty awesome, if I do say so myself, and I can't wait to see the magazine published.

Mostly I've been living vicariously through a friend who is lucky enough to be in California at the moment.  I may have gotten to see our favorite history teacher dance the electric slide in water flippers before getting soaked by a water balloon at the pep rally, but he got to see a KOALA.  Jealousy ensues.

So here's a drawing of said koala, shamelessly copied from one of his photos.

I have a life goal to go to Australia and hug a koala.  That's been a life goal of mine since first grade, when I first fell in love with a koala picture book.

Oh, koala.  Until then I shall have to admire you from afar.

Fancy Dresses

Turnabout was last night, which was a lot of fun. Getting dressed up was probably the best part, since I never really like the music they play there (though some songs are good for their amusement value). We had a great dinner at Tsukasa--at least it was great after I bullied the hostess into seating us... Ah well, the manager set her straight quickly enough, and it all went smoothly from there.  And of course the actual dance was fun, as was looking at everyone's fancy dresses.  Most were pretty, many were slutty, and some were just plain ugly, but the majority of the people looked very nice.

Anyway, here's a sketch I did of another young lady all dressed up.  She's loosely based off a character from a book series, Jacky Faber (a character who reminds me a bit of myself, both in name and personality, which is probably why I love those books so much).  I'm quite fond of this picture; the dress was fun to draw.

That's all for now; I need to stop procrastinating on my history reading!

Meerphew...

Well, I feel the need to update, so here goes...

I feel icky, oh so icky!  I feel icky, and sickly, and blah!
I'm too tired to even sing "Mahna Mahna!"

Like my song?  I made it up.

I stayed home sick today--head ache, cough, stuffy nose, and on and off fever.  I'm fine as long as I don't breathe or move my head.  Not too much fun, but I'm not dying or anything, I promise.  I'm a little miffed I didn't get a flu shot this year when my mom recommeded one, though.

Ah well.  I'll get better.  Time to stop being melodramtic.

Here's the picture of the day!

I inked this a while ago; it's of a pirate character I made up for a short story in 6th grade. She's pretty much awesome.

I really disliked this picture when I first drew it, but it's been growing on me.  Doesn't look half bad, I don't think.

And that's all for today!  I'm going to return to drinking tea and cuddling up with my teddy bear.
