Lazing Around

Summer keeps on moving, a little faster than I'd like.   The summer class I'm taking, American Government, makes it seem like it's going even faster.  Hopefully it'll slow down come July...

I've read three books since summer started, which is good.  Nice to be catching up on my literature stack.  I'm going to read the two I have to read for school next, so I can get them out of the way and not feel guilty when I go back to reading useless novels.

Other than that, I haven't been terribly productive, outside of my class.  Mom and I fixed up the room adjacent to mine (from here on out it is to be known as "Jackie's Studio") so I have all of my art/sewing/music stuff in there.  No more paiting on my bedroom floor or the kitchen table.

Speaking of art, I need to get my project from 4th quarter art up here...

Most excellent.  It's a bit crooked, because I couldn't scan it, so I took a photo of it.  But the drawing is there.  Note the octo-bear, mad scientist clown, and octopus attacking from stage right.  I like octopi.

Needless to say, I had a blast drawing this.

That's all for now, folks.

Ho Hum

First week of summer is already over.  And it's still pretty chilly outside.  Oh well.

I've been reading a lot, which is a nice change.  I didn't have any time to read during the school year.  I hope to make a dent in the tower of novels that is teetering next to my desk.

I've also been writing a bit.  My friend wants me to join her in a "write a novel in a month" endeavor.  Somthing tells me that will end badly for me, but I like to humor her.  So we've been warming up with creative writing prompts.  Some of them have been pretty amusing to write. And it's helpful, to boot.  Keeps my writing skills sharp.

But lets see, what art work should I showcase today...

This is a horned owl, in a mix of colored pencil and charcoal.  He looks a bit more impressive on paper; I drew him in my big tablet.  I started him a very long while ago, but decided to finish him earlier this week. He was just an outline when I rediscovered him, poor guy.

He can watch over my blog for now, with that fierce stare of his.

For now, adieu.
