Homecoming

So, Homecoming is over and done with! Spirit week was fun, with a new theme and new costume for every day. I was an old-fashioned movie star one day, a pirate the next. Then of course we had class color day and school spirit day. Fun stuff.

Homecoming football game was a blast--muddy as heck (we almost ruined our band uniforms, and did ruin our shoes) but it was a high energy game and a lot of fun. Then the dance itself was awesome. I went in a group with one of my best friends, and she burned me an "Inappropriate CD" for the occasion.

And my dress turned out better than expected. It's oddly one of the more comfortable ones I've worn to dances--usually they're either too tight, too itchy, or too heavy. My design worked well! Here's a picture of the finished product:

Not the most flattering angle in the world, but it shows the dress off well. The skirt is double layerd, so when I spin around more of the pink and gold silk underneath shows. I bustled it so it could be seen a little even when I was just standing still.

I liked it a lot, and might wear it again if the occasion allows.

Anyway, that's all for now!

Hello Again.

Well, my last post said senior year was off to a great start, and while that's true, I've been busy as heck. Which is why it's been more than 2 months since my last post... Oops. I hope you'll forgive me.

First quarter is already over; it went surprisingly fast. Grades are in, college apps have been sent out, and all that jazz. It's also Homecoming week, which is always fun. I designed and sewed my own homecoming dress this year--I'll post pictures of the finished project after I wear it. Out of all the things I've sewn for myself through the years, this is the thing I'm most proud of.

In other news, art class has been grinding on me. We haven't finished nearly as many
projects as I would have hoped for 2 months of school. In fact, I only have one finished product to show off.

I have a few others started, but this is the only one I finished. It's a cow skull done in craypa, with colored pencil in the background. I'm pretty happy with it, though the subject matter wasn't to my taste at all. We do what we can.

Anyway, that's everything of note. My next post will be sooner, I promise!
