Sorry...

Ok, so it's been a while (read: 3 months) since I last updated... Since then, I've graduated high school and started summer. Hurrah! Other than that, not much of note has happened. It's been a wee bit boring lately.

To make up for my lack of posting recently, I'll put up a couple things today :)

Another thing that came to an end recently is Lost. Lost has been a part of my life for 6 years, and it's odd to see it end. This is a portrait one of my favorite characters from the show, Richard. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. You can at least recognize him, which is better than a lot of my attempts at portraits.

Now this one I could have sworn I've put up already, but a quick glance-over of the blog tells me I haven't. This was another one of those infamous summer AP projects my teacher had me do. The contrast is a little off in this shot of it, but the general idea is there.

I'm a little sad--I couldn't find my art teacher at graduation to say my last good byes. I was looking forward to a parting photo, perhaps. No such luck. Such bittersweet memories she and I have shared...

Ah well.

While I'm thinking of it!

I decided I need to post again while I'm thinking of it. Nothing too exciting happening, but I'll mention the highlights... I got into UNC, which is cool because they only accepted 16% of out-of-staters that applied early action. I got a speeding ticket, which I've had coming for a while. I won the second annual Cupcake Cookoff, held on President's Day, which makes me the champion for two years running. Next year it won't be held on President's Day, unfortunately, because we'll be off at our respective colleges, but we'll find a way to still make it awesome. What else... oh, I'm going to turnabout with a cool guy from my church, which'll be fun. And no, I'm not making my dress for this dance, but I got a pretty nice one.

Art wise, I won an Honorable Mention at the Scholastic art show, which is pretty cool. I got it for my creepy doll drawing (which I don't have a photo of, but I'll put it up here when my teacher reliquishes it from her clutches) which leads me to believe that art judges are a little sick in the head. But anyway, I'm flattered I won something. Other than that, I've started a bunch of projects for art class... but my teacher is making me work on the two that I hate most, which is typical of her. One of them is that saxophone i
n the city one that I thought would turn out awesome but has turned into the bane of my existance. The other one is supposed to be an abstract piece, so it's already in a style I hate. So I just drew whatever came to my mind first, and ended up with a quasi-pokemon theme...which is entertaining even if it looks like utter crap. She keeps saying how creative it is, and I have to bite my tongue to avoid saying "Too bad the japanese thought of it first..."

The other two things I have going on in art class are much more my style, one of them is a colored pencil of ocean fish, and the other is a neat, middle eastern composition, complete with flying carpet. Think Aladin. I can't wait to finish those so I can put them up here.

For now, though, I'll have to put up something I already have a photo of. This is a drawing I did from one of my friend's photos. He's studying in Italy, so he got all sorts of cool pictures of architecture I like. This one was plain enough that I could draw it without going insane with detail, and I rather like it's simplicity.

That's all for now. Hopefully some more excitment will drag me through the month of March, which is all that stands between me and finding out what my future will look like (ie: college decisions)

Until then, ciao.

Life...

...has been pretty boring, so here's a boring drawing.

I was bored and decided to draw whatever was closet to me, and that happened to be my foot.

I think it turned out pretty neat though.

I have some other stuff to put up too, but I'll keep them as incentive for me to post again in the not too distant future.

Hurrah!

Happy Anniversary!

It's definitely been a while since I last posted... infact, I missed the whole month of December and the turn in to the new year. I had to post today, though, because its the official one year anniversary of this blog. Hurrah! Doesn't seem that long at all. But time's been flying.
I wish I had something new and exciting for my anniversary entry, but since I haven't been able to take pictures of what I've been working on in art class yet, you'll have to make do with an old piece that hasn't been posted yet.
I did this first semester junior year, so it was finished before I created this blog. It's craypa (ie: a cheap oil pastel imitation) which are a medium I have a love-hate relationship with. After completing this piece, the relationship was definitely in the "hate" end of the spectrum; I had some serious issues getting this to look right. The assignment required us to put the dreaded plant in a creative pot and setting, and this is what I came up with.
In other news, I'm working on a cool piece in art which again features a saxophone. I just started it, though, so it'll be a while before it's postable. Be excited for that, though!
Other than that, not much of note has been going on. I went down to the Outback bowl with my marching band, and we also hit up Disney and Busch Gardens, among other things, so that was fun. Otherwise, I've been amusing myself with cooking, thanks to the Julia Child cookbook I got for Christmas. Yesterday's experiment was chicken coq au vin, and it turned out pretty well.
That's all for now! My new years resolution is to post more, so be prepared.
